Federal Legislation

Horse Slaughter
SB 311 (horse slaughter) • H.R. 503 (horse slaughter)
Urge your senators and representatives to get this legislation out of committee and on to floor where it can be voted on and passed into law. We need to stop the slaughter of horses for human consumption.
And if you're planning to sell your horse, be sure to use our special Bill of Sale to prevent your horse from going to slaughter in the future.

Premarin (short for pregnant mare urine) - Educating women and doctors on the plentiful hormone replacement alternatives to Premarin, currently the most widely prescribed drug in America.
Be sure to visit our Premarin Page for information and links!

Wild Horses and Burros - Increasing protection for those on public lands and in private homes.

Soring - Ending soring, once and for all, by amending the 1971 Horse Protection Act and by working with the USDA and Sound Horse proponents to enforce existing regulations.
For more information on Soring, visit the Sound Horse Organization's website, SHO is a proud member of AHDF.

Horse Tripping - Horse tripping is the practice of roping the front or hind legs of a galloping horse -- causing it to trip or lose its balance and come crashing to the ground -- for the purposes of entertainment or sport. This cruel and inhumane activity is practiced in 3 of the 9 events held in the charreada, or Mexican-style rodeo. The tripping is intentional, and points are awarded for dropping the horse.
